Travel, Danger, and a Detective Out of His Element: Why You’ll Love Frank Abroad

There’s something about stepping into a new country that changes you.

The sights are different. The language is different. The rhythm of life shifts in subtle ways. You’re no longer the expert in the room—you’re the observer.

And for a detective like Frank Rozzani, that can be a dangerous place to be.

In my newest novel, Frank Abroad, I take Frank out of his familiar surroundings and drop him into the heart of Italy—where breathtaking beauty and hidden danger exist side by side.

A Mystery Set Against a Stunning Backdrop

From the ancient streets of Rome to the winding canals of Venice, Frank Abroad immerses readers in some of the most iconic and atmospheric locations in the world.

But this isn’t a travel brochure.

It’s a mystery.

A deadly one.

The deeper Frank digs, the more he realizes that beneath the beauty of Italy lies a web of secrets, betrayal, and danger that doesn’t play by the rules he’s used to.

And in a place where he doesn’t speak the language fluently, doesn’t know the customs, and can’t rely on his usual instincts, every decision carries greater risk.

Inspired by a Journey That Stayed With Me

This book was inspired in part by my own trip to Italy in 2018 with the St. Mary’s of the Lake choir from Skaneateles, New York.

That journey left a lasting impression on me.

The architecture.
The history.
The music.
The sense of walking through places where centuries of stories have unfolded.

Those experiences found their way into Frank Abroad—not as a travel diary, but as the emotional and visual foundation of the story.

While the plot is fictional, the feeling of being there is very real.

A Frank Rozzani Story With a New Twist

If you’ve followed the Frank Rozzani series, you know Frank as a sharp, experienced detective who thrives on control and understanding the world around him.

In Frank Abroad, that control is taken away.

  • He’s operating outside his jurisdiction

  • He’s navigating unfamiliar terrain

  • He’s forced to trust people he doesn’t fully understand

That shift creates a different kind of tension—one that pushes Frank in new and unexpected ways.

It’s still the same character you know, but tested in a completely new environment.

What Kind of Story Is This?

Frank Abroad is for readers who enjoy:

✔ Fast-paced mysteries with international settings
✔ Stories that blend atmosphere with suspense
✔ Complex characters placed in high-stakes situations
✔ Travel, culture, and danger woven together

If you like a mystery that keeps you turning pages while transporting you somewhere unforgettable, this book was written for you.

Take the Journey

Writing Frank Abroad allowed me to combine my love of storytelling with a place that meant a great deal to me personally.

It’s a book about mystery and danger—but it’s also about what happens when we leave the familiar behind and step into something unknown.

And sometimes, that’s where the most compelling stories begin.

If you enjoy the book, I’d truly appreciate you leaving a review or sharing it with a friend. Word of mouth is still the most powerful way independent authors reach new readers.

Thank you for your continued support—and for being part of this journey with me.
